The Rocket Summer – Do You Feel The Rocket Summer is a power pop-rock band from Colleyville, Texas, comprised solely of Bryce Avary who plays all instruments and sings. “Do You Feel” is Avary’s third full length release and doesn’t stray from his typical girl-oriented optimistic rock. Although the lyrical content in some songs seems to offer too much of the same thing “Do You Feel” offers incredible instrumental back-up. Avary branches out into a few new instruments to create an awesomely huge sound for many of the songs and shows even greater mastering of the piano and guitar. The Rocket Summer is often thrown into the typical “emo” band mix but Bryce Avary’s songwriting ability greatly succeeds most all of his contemporaries.

Rooney – Calling The World
Rooney is a five-piece rock-pop band from Los Angeles. “Calling The World” is Rooney’s second full length release following their self-titled debut in 2003. Rooney does surprisingly well with this new album considering their initial success was riding on the high-pitched screams of their 12-year old girl fan base. “Calling The World” seems to create a very strong but believable link from their classic rock influences to their modern-music setting. They have the ability to create amazingly timeless songs that seem like they would have done well 40 years ago and will do well 40 years from now, something most bands caught in the class-rock revival can only dream of.
