Digitalism – Idealism

Digitalism is a German electro duo, founded in 2004. “Idealism” is their debut full length release and is most likely the best thing to happen to electronic music since the invention of electricity. This perfectly crafted collection of fast-paced danceable tunes fuses the best of both the rhythm and power of guitar-based rock and the excitement and intensity of electronic synth. With “Idealism” Digitalism doesn’t give the listener too much time to warm up to any one song because before you know it the next track is playing with it’s own enticing originality, which makes judging the CD off of one of their songs slightly ridiculous. Not a single second of this album is wasted; this is modern music at its very best.

The Polyphonic Spree – The Fragile Army

The Polyphonic Spree is a choral symphonic rock group from Dallas, Texas. The band generally consists of a 10-person choir, a pair of keyboardists, as well as a percussionist, drummer, bassist, guitarist, flautist, trumpeter, trombonist, violinist, violist, harpist, French horn player, a pedal steel player, theremin player, and an electronic effects person. Tim DeLaughter is musical director and contributes lead vocals, as well as keyboards, guitar, and percussion. “The Fragile Army” is this incredibly large band’s third full length release and gives a whole new perspective to this enormous collection of instruments. With these new songs DeLaughter flawlessly mixes noticeable guitar rock and his usual powerful wall of orchestrated noise.
