Vampire Weekend - Self-Titled

So these guys, Vampire Weekend, they're shaking things up a bit.
Rather than trying to find the right combination of various genre
names to adequately describe the music off of their debut self-titled
release I'll just describe it as original and positively thought
provoking. I think this is exactly the type of solidly good music the
world could use much more of these days.

The Helio Sequence - Keep Your Eyes Ahead

I don't know much about this duo from Portland, in fact this new
release is the first time I've given them a proper listen, but
I'm extremely impressed. The combined talent of lead
singer/songwriter/guitarist Brandon Summers (who could be seen as a
kind of new-age Bob Dylan) and drummer Benjamin Weikel (who's
responsible for the drums on Modest Mouse's "Good News For People…")
meshes together to form an awesome new style of making music I've
never heard from anyone else. Like any other seriously great CD "Keep
Your Eyes Ahead" contains both relaxing and engaging songs and
everything in between.
